Production
Pistachio trees live a very long life of up to 300 years. The pistachio trees are planted usually in orchards, and they take around 7-10 years to reach a substantial production of nuts. It is usually when the hulls lose their green hue and take a reddish-yellow color. When the pistachios are ready to harvest, the husk or hull covering the shell becomes fairly loose. As the nut ripens, the hull separates from the shell and is easily removed when pinched; and the hulls are quickly removed to prevent staining of the shell. They are then dried or roasted and seasoned by pistachio nuts wholesalers.
Producer
The pistachio’s origin country is Iran. It was producing the highest quantity of pistachios until the USA began competing in it. Now the USA and Iran are the top pistachio-producing countries in the world.
