Production

Since butter is an essential and widely used ingredient in baking, it is produced by churning cream until the fats separate from the liquid buttermilk. For this reason, the milk is first skimmed using a process called centrifugation. In this process, the milk is separated into two parts; skimmed milk and cream. Further, the cream is heated to remove micro-organisms, in a process known as pasteurization. Finally, in the last step, churning is done to form yellow grains in the whey and the excess buttermilk is drained off; by rinsing the grains with water.

Producers

While butter is produced in many countries around the world, the highest producer of butter is India, followed by America and New Zealand. Despite the struggle, South Africa has also managed to be a part of the top bulk butter-producing countries. And all our products are sourced locally.

Properties

  1. Butter contains vitamin D, a nutrient that is vital for bone growth and development.
  2. Rich in calcium, an essential element for bone strength. Calcium also helps prevent diseases such as osteoporosis, a condition that makes bones weak.
  3. Butter also contains vitamin E, which plays a role in skin health. The nutrient reduces damage from UV sun rays, reduces skin inflammation, and improves how well skin wounds heal.

Uses

The use of butter is very common in many recipes. The taste will be richer and more intense, but the results will be just as good. Butter is a great ingredient for baking cakes, cookies, pastries, and pies to add a rich and creamy taste to your baked goods, and to give them moisture.

Also, when butter is added to baked products, it lengthens their shelf life. Apart from this, butter can be added to anything, whether it is chicken, seafood, or any vegetable to add creaminess to it.

Also, just apply a layer of butter on the bread to make a toast of it.
