Production

Cocoa powder is widely used in the manufacturing of cocoa-based products such as drinks, cake fillings, ice cream, and so on. The process of making cocoa powder involves roasting the cocoa beans, which releases cocoa flavonoids into the powder. Firstly, the cocoa beans are roasted. The roasted beans are then filtered, and the cleaned beans are then peeled or chopped into granules. Then the obtained beans undergo fine grinding, after which, the beans are pressed to form cocoa butter and cocoa cake. The cocoa cake is finely ground into cocoa powder, and that is how the bulk cocoa powder is obtained.

Producers

Cocoa beans are the seeds of the cocoa tree, which is native to the Amazon Rainforest. However, still, the Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Cameroon, and Ghana are the top producers of cacao- 70% of the world’s cocoa beans.
